Louisa Amateur Radio Association
Louisa County Virginia
The Ham community (as a whole), through out the years has
always had one thing in common among themselves.
And that is the desire to help others.
It has been this way from the beginning.
The Louisa Amateur Radio Association consists of Ham's interested
in helping the community in Louisa County and surrounding counties.
We have started this group in our small community, hoping to gain
more members inside and outside the surrounding areas of Louisa County,
so as to enhance the Amateur Radio experience, and awareness in this area.
Providing emergency communications for Louisa and the
local counties is our main goal.
Louisa County EOC personnel have made us aware that
they need additional communication support and means
during major emergency's, whether it be weather related,
or some major disaster in and around Louisa.
They have come to realize more forms of communications are needed.
Their main concern is the nuclear power plant located in Louisa.
Dominion Electric and the Louisa EOC, work close together,
and both have agreed that Amateur Radio would play a vital
part of their communication needs.
Both are willing to work with the Amateur community.
The county has also asked as if we might be interested in taking
the C.E.R.T. training course if at all possible. This is
something quite new to us, and we have not talked much on this
possibility at present.
This is just a little insight to what this group is working on,
and hope to be able to provide to the communities that surround us.
Of course we all enjoy the daily chat with each other on repeaters
or HF bands. The monthly meetings we have, enable us
to get together face to face with each other and chew the fat,
and all the other things that come with Amateur Radio.
The above mentioned is a goal we all share and hope to see
We honor all that share our interest and if not all that's
mentioned above interests you, we still hope you enjoy being part of a great bunch of people.
